When describing your favourite toy as a child what do you remember most? The way it looked, or the way it made you feel? Happy, sad, bored, enthralled, etc.
Whatever the word you choose, it’s because you remember how it made you feel.
This is a psychological sticking point that every marketer in the world wants to appeal to and make happen in their customer’s minds.
As marketers, we want to connect positive emotions to our products or services. But how?
This question has been wrestled with by marketers and psychologists for years. The conclusion? A user’s experience is the most important thing ever.
The User Experience is everything
If you talk to a web designer or developer for anything longer than 2 minutes, they are probably going to mention the words UI or UX (sorry web devs but you know it’s true).
These words are drilled into their heads because what the best design comes down to user experience and how easy the website is to use.
This however goes beyond just websites. It goes for all designs, products, services, and more.
The better the user experience the better the feelings associated with your website, product, service, etc.
It’s a simple concept and leads to one inescapable fact – the usability of a product and its experience will help define its popularity.
Enter the cloth
When it came to providing a wow factor for our own products, I had to think about usability. What would people use regularly that would keep my brand at the forefront of their minds?
For me, this came up as I was about to attend lots of expos and needed something that grabbed attention, something that stood out amongst all the other stands and businesses.
My first thought was “what is everyone giving out and just generally overlooking?”.
The answer hit me, the business card. When was the last time you remembered a business card? When was the last time you got any use from a business card or came back to it every day for weeks?
My guess would be none.
I needed a “business card” that would be useful, usable, and memorable.
I focused on the idea of usability as I knew the user experience would be the most important thing.
It was at this point I had a brainwave, a cleaning cloth.
With all the smart devices we have in the world we need high-quality cloths to clean all those screens.
What about people who wear glasses? Constantly needing to keep them de-misted in the age of condensation from wearing masks.
What if instead of a business card, we had a cleaning cloth?
This covers the usability perspective to a T.
They could be cleaning their glasses, or wiping down their screens, but they will remember they got a cleaning cloth from that nice guy at the expo.
It’s useful, repeatable, and unique. Perfect for what I needed.
The Cleaning Cloth Business Card
There are several types of cleaning cloth, with all sorts of thicknesses to suit your needs and preferences.
There’s a smorgasbord of choice available to you. Luckily, I have tried them all, so you don’t have to.
They work brilliantly as a business card (HINT HINT) but can either be given out as a glasses cleaner or a screen cleaner.
You can get the standard cleaning cloth microfibre or the Recycled PET (made from recycled bottles) for only a few pennies more.
They are genuinely one of my favourite products as they have a really big print area making them a pocket advertisement that people willingly carry for you.
We can print both sides which is a massive amount of room to get your message across.
Like anything we do, whilst this is a product that will make people say “Wow”, they aren’t perfect for every occasion.
In fact, one of the things we pride ourselves on is finding the right product for the right promotion or the right use.
After all, there is no one size fit’s all marketing plan any more than there is a one size fits all promotional product. One of the things we do best in the industry is to listen to our clients and make suggestions based on their needs.
For example, if you’re looking for a more traditional business “card” then why not an RFID Card Blocker. It’s the size of a credit card and people can use it to keep their money safe.
We try and understand the why of what you are doing, we want to know where you are going to use it and what you expect in return for giving away something to someone.
Being consultative in our approach to every project means we are more than fantastic suppliers of promotional merchandise.
We specialise in understanding you, your brand, and your voice. We then use that to provide exceptional products and experiences for your clients or for your events.
Our 20+ years’ experience in helping brands better understand their branding, their image, their personality is our superpower.
Promotional merchandise is more about brand voice than any other piece of marketing you do as each item can infer so much, so if you’re in any doubt call us today.
