“Did you hear?” Michelle said over the office phone to Danny. “Grant was at an exhibition and one of the exhibitors told him that promotional products are a waste of money!”
Danny laughed. Everyone in the promotional merchandise industry had heard that line at some point through the years. He remembered the old marketing saying – “marketing is a waste of money until you want to sell something.”
“What did he say?” Danny asked, even though he was pretty sure he already knew. Grant always had a standard answer for when people challenged him with the ‘merchandise doesn’t work’ myth.
“The usual,” Michelle smirked, knowing full well that Danny knew what was coming next. “Take my card – it’s a printed RFID card protector. If you put it in your wallet, it will stop thieves from cloning your details without your knowledge.”
“Yeah, that sounds about right,” Danny laughed. “Did the exhibitor take it?”
“Great! So, when is Grant meeting them?”
Michelle paused and checked her emails to confirm. “Next week, the client wants to send a gift to each of their 150 members of staff to say thanks for their hard work over the last 6 weeks.”
“That’s a nice gesture,” Danny commented. He remembered how appreciated he felt when Grant gave him a Wow Merchandise promotional phone charger a few weeks ago. “Any idea about their budget?”
“Around £1,000 overall I believe.”
“Great – I’ll pull together some ideas,” Danny smiled. He loved starting new projects and coming up with innovative and quirky merchandise options.
The team worked tirelessly each day to create the best branded merchandise possible and deliver the results their clients want – and it’s all worth it when they say ‘Wow’.
As the sun set that evening, Michelle and Danny headed home from the Wow Merchandise office in North London. They thought about how Grant used a simple promotional product to show the client how powerful and thoughtful merchandise can be.
Grant had made the client say ‘Wow’, just by getting his name and contact details out of his pocket and into the client’s wallet. Now, every time the client uses the RFID card to protect his bank cards against fraud, he would think about Wow Merchandise.
Does promotional merchandise work? The answer is yes. The trick is to get a product that someone needs, something they will use again and again to remind them of your brand – something that will make them say ‘Wow’.
